Mother City Is The Greatest

For the fifth consecutive year in a row, Cape Town has been voted the greatest city on Earth by Telegraph readers.

A poll of 90 000 readers rated the Mother City as No.1 in the 2017 Telegraph Travel Awards.

And it’s not hard to see why the coastal gem of South Africa achieved crowning success – we have the sun, see and of course, the iconic Table Mountain.

Let’s not forget some of the world’s top restaurants and wine routes.

Coming in at a close second is the Canadian city of Vancouver, followed by Tokyo.

Tourist favourite Paris also slipped eight places to No. 32.
