Creativity makes you the centre of attention…
The Yard, an exciting new concept store-cum-bistro-bar is set to become the go-to retail and dining experience at the recently launched and blossoming Silo District at the V&A Waterfront. This inventive new outlet is the brainchild of retail guru, Abigail Bisogno, a Paarl native, and her business partner, the successful restaurateur, GP Singh who hails from Punjab, India.
‘The inspiration for The Yard came from my wine farm background, and my creation of the Spice Route Destination in Paarl, together with my partner’s experience in the food industry over the last 15 years,’ Bisogno reveals. Beautifully situated on the public plaza directly opposite the Zeitz MOCAA, The Yard has unique views of Table Mountain, Lion’s Head and Signal Hill that will offer guests natural beauty while engaging in the alluring (and fiery) energy of the Silo district. This new visually charming retail zone shares no preference when it comes to its guests, promising to cater to local and international tastes.
A wide and fresh array of delicious vegan, vegetarian and meat dishes are available, with a deli fridge consisting of small portions of food-to-go, designed for passers-by and the users of the Virgin Active above. The bar boasts on-the-spot smoothies and juices, wine, craft beer, bubbly and cocktails. Delight in the selection of chocolates, preserves, charcuterie, home-made pasta, Indian street food (a dish called Papri Chaat), ‘The Yard mess’, salads and more.
‘GP and I share a vision and passion for Euro-Asian cuisine that seeks to unify Asia-Indian-European flavours,’ explains Bisogno. ‘We intend to make our new space in the Silo District the destination where this type of food and our unique brand of retail can be experienced and enjoyed.’
