As mid-winter brings with it colder temperatures, recipes like homey soups, stews and slow-cooked meals are suddenly back on the menu. And if spending a chilly evening indoors and getting cosy in front of the fireplace seems like the best thing to do, then the Fairview Beacon Shiraz 2014 is simply the perfect pairing.

The Beacon Shiraz is dark ruby red in colour, with aromas of ripe plum, violet and cinnamon on the nose, resembling a French Syrah from the Northern Rhône. The palate is rich and full-bodied with firm structure and complex flavours of fruit and spice – with the potential to mature for five to eight years.

‘Shiraz has always been a flagship variety for our farm, carrying with it a special heritage and significance.’ – winemaker Anthony de Jager.

Richly flavoured and ideally served at 15 °C – 18°C, Shiraz wines are perfect for winter evenings indoors.

The Beacon Shiraz 2014 retails for about R285 per bottle and is available nationwide at selected liquor outlets or via Fairview’s online shop here. To book a standard wine tasting or a Master Tasting at Fairview, visit fairview.co.za or call +27 21 863 2450.
