The wait is finally over. Wallpaper have announced the winners of their Design Awards 2018.
The judging panel, a collaboration of experts across their field including Ethiopian model Liya Kebede, had their work cut out for them.
Our very own Zeitz Mocaa museum was shortlisted under Best New Public Building and won a joint award with Musée Yves Saint Laurent, Marrakech.
“Grand gestures define Cape Town’s new Zeitz MOCAA. As a much-heralded cultural waypoint, the vast converted grain silos are proving to be a key draw on the city’s Victoria & Alfred Waterfront,” says Wallpaper.
“Heatherwick Studio has made typically bold strokes at the building’s heart, making elaborate cuts into the structure’s concrete cylinders to form a towering, quasi-organic atrium,” they concluded.
