Moooi, the renowned Dutch furniture, interior, and lighting design company founded by Marcel Wanders and Casper Vissers never fails to intrigue and excite with their collaborations and designer offerings.
The brand recently introduced Arihiro Miyake who designed the beautiful Coppélia suspension lamp. Miyake graduated from Kobe Design University, Japan in 1999 and achieved a master degree in furniture and spatial design at Aalto University in Finland in 2002.
He established his own design studio, Studio Arihiro Miyake, in Helsinki in 2004 after gaining professional experience at a few design studios. The studio works on diverse international design projects including restaurant, exhibition architecture as well as furniture and lighting designs.
Miyake’s Coppélia suspension lamp is a romantic chandelier that draws inspiration from a beautiful mechanical ballerina. The movement of the ballerina’s black tutu forms the foundation on which Miyake’s Coppélia Suspended chandelier is based on. The lamp is available in two colours Chrome and Black Satin.
Moooi collaborated with Dezeen on a project titled Design Dreams to create a series of portraits giving viewers insight into a designer's aspiration. Watch their video featuring Arihiro Miyake below.
