This year, the annual and long awaited Design Indaba will unofficially kick off with a one-night only, free teaser of the Nightscape Festival.
The all access event will be held on the 21st of February on the Artscape Piazza. The music, captivating performances, exhibitions, installations and delicious gourmet street food will all be a foretaste of the treats yet to come when the Design Indaba Festival officially kicks off on the 22nd of February.
There will be an open-air pop up gallery where artists and designers such as Morag Myerscough and Edel Rodriguez will exhibit their colourful and celebrated illustrative works. Nominees for the most beautiful object in South Africa will be on display and the country’s top 40 emerging creatives will be in attendance.
A screening of contemporary South African drama will also take place. Starring an acclaimed local cast, the film storyline follows The film follows the life of the young ‘Five Fingers’ who fought for the rural town of Marseilles, against brutal police oppression.
The open to the public event will be one of note with live performances by South African leading guitarist Guy Buttery, Cape Town DJ duo Beat Sampras, Urban Village and Jakinda.
