A renovation of this two-storey property allowed for radical enhancements to the interior architecture with a particular focus on the use of glass. Central to the living areas are a triple-volume glass lift and surrounding circular glass-and-steel staircase, adding both a functional feature and a dramatic design element that complements the understated opulence of the interiors.
The enveloping glass lift shaft comprises curved, toughened glass panels spanning between floors and forming a rigid glass tube,
with the same glass cladding the steel framework of the lift car.
For the staircase, curved, frameless, toughened glass panels enclose a double band of spiral-shaped stainless steel stringers, with the treads, made of four separate glass panels laminated together, contributing to an ethereal floating illusion.
