The HoodLamp Pendant, Ambient Pendant Lamp and Ambient Table Lamp are the three latest designer lights from Minima’s lighting range and were recently showcased at the renowned Maison&Objet Trade Show in Paris.
Minima, which was launched by designer Jacques Cronje in 2014, has created over 30 different styles of lights made from birch-ply or bamboo. Cronje has also designed a variety of modern furniture pieces for private homes, offices and retail spaces such as Exclusive Books, Rocomamas, select Nandos venues and Visa’s head office.
The three new lights are made from digitally-cut Bamboo flexi-ply and have varying intricately cut geometric patterns that disappear when the light is off, adding an element of surprise when the light is switched on. Cronje also added the Radius Dining Chair to his furniture range joining the Baobab, Modulus Range and Flow Bench, which won the DTI’s Furniture Award in 2016.
‘We are very excited about adding furniture to our offering. The Flow Bench and also our Flow Stool were primarily competition and exhibition pieces, so were not intended to be commercially viable. But the new Radius range of chairs are accessible design pieces suited to everyday use. The Radius furniture range follows a similar design logic to the original minima lighting pieces; that of components radially arranged to create curved forms - in this case very gentle curves,’ Cronje said.
