It’s Wednesday, right? And we’re crushing on the new by women for women online store, JimnoJean. Founded by South African Keagan Carlin, JimnoJean boasts more than 95% carefully curated products by women.
Inspired by the Gymnogene, a beautiful rare bird found in parts of South Africa, (the African Harrier Hawk)—Carlin felt the name resonated on a personal level because of her deep love for the bush.
The online store has a bold and feminine aesthetic and offers a very unique luxury shopping experience of carefully considered products. More than 99% of the product offering is created and produced in Africa. ‘We are focusing heavily on the quality of products, not quantity, and shining a spotlight on a distinctive offering not currently found in the mainstream market,' says Carlin.
There is a strict list of criteria for selecting products for JimnoJean. ‘We consider everything from the quality of the item, market saturation of the specific product, price points and most importantly a fresh aesthetic.’
Sustainability is a fundamental part of JimnoJean, which aims to be as green as possible. ‘Our focus areas include the packaging, environmentally recyclable and where it isn’t, we’ve made sure the consumer can re-use it in a functional way.’ As a conscious step towards using less plastic, JimnoJean uses a courier company that does not wrap packages in plastic.
