The home of interior designer Carlos Serra, located in Jávea, a coastal town in the province of Alicante in Valencia Spain, is a reflection of his personality and his way of understanding life.

The home is spacious and filled with light that compliments the unpolluted white floors, walls and ceilings. These elegant white tones created the perfect canvas for Carlos’ furniture and decoration pieces, many of which he acquires during his travels.

Natural textures are a main characteristic of the house and materials that include wicker, cane, rattan or raffia are found throughout the house. The coffee table is made with a Philippine pineapple fibre fabric and decorated with a traditional drawing. The kitchen merges with the dining room and creates a cozy atmosphere making cooking and socialising easy.

The colours of the rooms in this living space range from green and stone on the first floor and a vast variety of blue tones on the upper floor. Carlos explained that he chose the colour scheme of the first floor to represent it being in contact with the earth while the colour scheme on the top floor relates to the views of the sea.

The perfectly blue swimming pool and it’s lavishly decked sitting area feature two Indian style daybeds. The covered living area, constructed with cane panels, is decorated with Moroccan iron lamps enamelled in white, armchairs, a bamboo table, acapulco chairs and a fan that refreshes the outdoor lounge. The top floor boasts mountain and ocean views from it’s central living room. The room features a sofa with a Moroccan mattress, cushions from Senegal and colourful coconut masks from Guanajuato, Mexico.
