Maserati relaunched the Maserati Ghibli (pronounced ‘gib-lee’) for 2018, with a subtle restyling and a rich array of additional hi-tech features. House and Garden was invited to experience a day in the small countryside of Rawsonville in the Breede Valley of the Western Cape – La Dolce Vita style.

After driving in absolute luxury and what felt like a 20-minute drive instead of an hour from Cape Town, we reached our destination. Picardi Place is a quaint establishment run by an equally charming host and chef, Jaco Brand.

Organic wine tasting was first up on the menu, followed by a quick tour of the farm and the permaculture vegetable garden (yes, it’s farm to fork vibes here). The highlight of the day was learning to make our own pasta from scratch. Properly. All donned in our aprons, it felt like a Nigella Lawson and Sibalicious (Siba Mtongana) kitchen party. Pastry dirty hands, wine overflowing, music in the background – a hashtag living your best life moment.

Lunch was our very own home-made tagliatelle bolognaise with a fresh green herb salad. Dessert was a fresh and perfectly moist carrot cake. No, Jaco does not share that recipe unfortunately. It’s that good.
