Easter is a time of abundance, both in the garden and on the table. We've hunted down 7 table decorations to buy ahead of the bank holiday.

There's no holiday quite like Easter. It's Christmas without the pressure, it's a birthday without the surfeit of attention and, for many of us, it's a few days off work with no commitments. There are precisely zero requirements during this period, no presents to be given, no guilt about not seeing your extended family, and no logistics to tackle. Of course, you might be given to attending your local church, or fancy a long walk, but really, you have four days to do exactly whatever you want. Plus, without the pressure to wrap your entire house in fairy lights and deck your halls with trillions of baubles, the idea of decorating for the occasion seems infinitely more appealing.

What will we be doing over those glorious four days? We will be setting a festive table and sitting down to a meal with a close group of loved ones. To make a truly charming Easter table, you'll need to embrace pastels and other spring colours. Lean into the floral and frilly and enjoy!

Serving plates

At just the right size for serving up a simnel cake, this Dior Home plate would make a charming focal point on any Easter table. Alternatively, their Footed Salad Bowl is just the ticket for filling up with colourful ceramic fruit or painted eggs.

Tablecloths and napkins

When we said embrace the floral and frilly, we truly meant it. John Lewis's ruffled linen would make a handsome cover for either a garden table or dining table, depending on the British weather. Pair it with some smart napkins and you're on your way to a very pleasing table setting.

Easter eggs

No Easter table is complete without some playful decorations. Eggs should be in abundance throughout Easter, whether they be made of chocolate or ceramic.

Easter tree

Choose between purchasing pre made Easter stems and eggs, making your own decoupage eggs, and baking some. We like Biscuiteers sweet icing kit for the latter.

Glassware

Colourful glassware has the ability to lift a table setting, providing a different texture and layer to the table. We'll be setting ours with these green glasses from HAY.

Cutlery

Colourful cutlery is a must at Easter, and our pick of the bunch would be these rainbow hued pieces from Matilda Goad.

Finishing touches

Finally, a set of pretty menus and place cards will tie everything together. We like ones from Antoinette Poisson, but Etsy and Papier have equally lovely offerings. We also love the idea of clipping a few of these wooden bunnies onto the front of each individual's napkin, along with their placecard. Finally, scatter a few different sized vetiver baskets down the centre of the table and fill them with eggs for a natural, textured focal point.
