Cape Town has long been a meeting point for design, art, travel and craftsmanship, and Louis Vuitton’s new store at the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront brings those worlds together in a quietly striking way.

Opened in July 2026, the new Louis Vuitton Cape Town store is less about simply shopping and more about the experience of moving through an esteemed space. It brings together the House’s men’s and women’s collections, from leather goods to shoes, accessories and fragrance, while giving the store its own distinct sense of place.

Louis Vuitton continues to celebrate the opening of its new Cape Town destination, marking a fresh chapter for the House at the V&A Waterfront.

The design begins at the entrance, where an intricately carved wooden exterior takes its prompt from Louis Vuitton’s Epi leather. Inside, Japanese wallpaper creates a graphic backdrop for the brand’s iconic women’s leather goods, while rifted oak furniture adds warmth and texture.

The result feels polished without being an overly formal space.

Inside, the women’s universe unfolds against handcrafted details, graphic textures, and the House’s instantly recognisable leather goods.

From there, the store unfolds into distinct zones. The women’s area pairs apparel, accessories and shoes with textile panels inspired by the Monogram flower, centred around a vivid yellow rug.

Across the space, the travel collection takes its place alongside leather goods designed for everyday life, weekends away, and longer journeys – a subtle reminder of the travel heritage at the heart of Louis Vuitton.

Rich French oak and custom leather furnishings give the men’s space a warm, intimate character

The real highlight, however, is the Winter Garden.

Filled with greenery and softened by natural light, the space opens onto views of the Victoria Basin. A bamboo-inspired ceiling, lush planting, artwork, and floor-to-ceiling windows create a sense of calm that feels worlds away from the pace of a busy shopping centre.

It also offers a more private setting for appointments and special occasions.

The space offers a moment of calm, with lush finishes and contemporary interior designs.

What makes the Cape Town store more interesting is the way local creativity rests alongside the Louis Vuitton universe. Archival trunks and pieces from the Objets Nomades collection are displayed with furniture by South African design brand Weylandts and work by Namibian artist Nicky Marais

It gives the space a distinctly regional character while remaining connected to the House’s international design language.

Louis Vuitton has had a presence in Cape Town since 2007, with the Waterfront store later redesigned in 2019. The new location marks the next evolution of that relationship, bringing the House into a larger, more immersive setting at the V&A Waterfront.

Louis Vuitton’s Cape Town story has a local accent, with South African furniture and artwork, alongside pieces from the House’s archives.

For a brand whose story began with the art of travel, the new Louis Vuitton Cape Town store feels appropriately considered. It is a place where fashion, architecture, art, and South African design meet – and where the details are as important as what is on the shelves.
