Set amid the breathtaking landscapes of Colorado, this spectacular residence is a celebration of mountain living at its most refined. Surrounded by mature trees and designed to embrace the region’s bright skies, the home is set across expansive terraces and a sweeping resort-style pool. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame panoramic views of the Rocky Mountains, ensuring that light, landscape and architecture are in constant dialogue.

The five-year design and building journey is shown in a home that feels deeply personal. Inside, the interiors echo the grandeur of the surrounding environment, blending cinematic scale with carefully constructed warmth.

Designed for philanthropy and celebration alike, the outdoor areas accommodate large-scale events while maintaining an atmosphere of refined intimacy

Designing for Entertaining and Everyday Living

Interior designers Nikki Holt, Creative Director and Residential Studio Design Director, and Carter Brasch, senior designer at Kimberly Timmons Interiors, were tasked with crafting a residence capable of shifting effortlessly between quiet daily living and vibrant social gatherings.

The homeowners – a Colorado-based couple deeply involved in civic and philanthropic initiatives – envisioned a home that could accommodate everything from intimate evenings for two to large-scale charity events and family celebrations.

“Our goal was to merge high-end residential comfort with the polish and operational sophistication of luxury hospitality,” says Holt.

A Modern Classical Vision

The newly constructed residence balances multiple design influences, as opposed to belonging to a single architectural era. Contemporary mountain architecture is softened with touches of classic European glamour, creating a home that feels both grounded in its surroundings and elevated by a universal sense.

“The home was designed from the ground up to support both large-scale entertaining and intimate daily living,” explains Brasch. “Hospitality-level amenities were integrated into a private residence.”

The Ritual of Arrival

The design narrative begins long before guests enter the residence. Inspired by the glamour of classic luxury hotels, the experience of arrival was treated as a ceremonial moment.

A circular driveway leads to a mirrored chrome front door, while sculptural walnut columns inside the entrance contribute to a rhythmic language that continues throughout the residence. The sequence recalls the corridors and procession of spaces found in historic European palaces, which translate into a contemporary mountain setting.

Cinematic Greatness with Alpine Warmth

The interior atmosphere balances drama with comfort. Soaring ceilings create an immediate sense of scale, yet the home never feels grim.

Walnut millwork introduces warmth and architectural structure, while limestone and metallic accents add some refinement. The two-story great room serves as a focus point, where towering windows capture expansive mountain views.

A Palette Inspired by Light

To allow Colorado’s natural light to take the spotlight, the designers selected an enduring color palette.

Soft whites, warm creams, and taupes form the foundation of the interior setting, injected by the richness of walnut and the subtle patterning of polished porcelain surfaces.

Rather than relying on bold colour, glamour is introduced through reflection and texture. Liquid metal finishes and sculptural lighting create a bit of shimmer and dimension, ensuring that the home feels timeless while it remains distinctly modern.

The Tactile Language of Stone and Metal

Materiality plays a role in defining the home’s character. Natural materials were selected for their durability as well as their visual impact, specifically in areas designed for entertaining.

Dramatic white stone countertops pour into waterfall edges, while towering limestone fireplace walls rise through the two-story living spaces. In the dining room, shagreen door fronts and custom wallpaper introduce subtle tactile contrasts.

Amenities Without Compromise

Beyond the home's elegant aesthetic, it is created for effortless hosting. The kitchen is harboured by a porcelain slab waterfall island, while a sectional in the great room encourages effortless conversation.

The lower level operates as a private entertainment area, complete with a luxury home theatre, golf simulator and an urban bar featuring a backlit onyx wall.

For large gatherings, a full catering kitchen is discreetly tucked away from the main living areas, allowing events to take place seamlessly. Meanwhile, the primary suite provides a private space, featuring a hidden coffee bar and a sculptural platform bathtub framed by a bronze glass shower.

Cohesion Across a Monumental Scale

Each space in the home possesses its own personality, yet the repetition of key materials, such as walnut, stone and layered lighting, ensure visual continuity throughout the residence.

“While each room has its own identity and sense of place, they are unified through disciplined repetition of core materials,” says Brasch.

A Five-Year Vision Realised

Designing a residence of this scale across a five-year timeline presented unique challenges. The team had to ensure that the design remained both forward-thinking as well as timeless.

“The biggest challenge was balancing monumental scale with intimacy,” Holt explains. “We wanted the home to feel just as comfortable for two people as it does for a large gathering.”

The result is a residence that gracefully integrates a primary suite, au pair suite and five guest bedrooms alongside grand entertaining spaces and outdoor living areas.
