Terra Frammenti Debut: Marble Furniture as Sculptural Art
There are objects that serve a purpose, and then there are objects that transform a space, capturing attention and imagination. Terra Frammenti belongs firmly in the latter category. Launched by Sheree Stuart of Sheree Stuart Design, the debut collection is a celebration of marble in its most sculptural, poetic form - furniture that gleams like jewels, carved from solid blocks of Italian stone.
The story began in 2022, when Stuart was sourcing marble in Italy for a large residential project. “I was captivated by their craft, and they were impressed with ours,” she recalls. A conversation between continents, a meeting of minds and skills, sparked the vision for Terra Frammenti: to translate raw fragments of the earth into furniture that is as functional as it is extraordinary.
Crafted by Skilled Hands
Each piece is carved from a single block of marble, quartzite, or semi-precious stone such as onyx, labradorite, hematoid, or tiger eye. The collection spans pendants, stools, ottomans, chairs, consoles, vanities, and even bathtubs, each infused with a sense of timeless elegance. Some feature fine mohair upholstery, others bronze accents or walnut-lined cabinetry, blending traditional Italian craftsmanship with contemporary design.
The artisans work in Siderno, southern Italy, selecting stones of rare beauty and shaping them with painstaking skill. Every curve, every fluted detail, is the result of meticulous care - melding centuries-old techniques with modern innovations. And though the debut collection comprises 22 pieces, each feels wholly unique, a testament to the diversity of the stones themselves.
A Palette of Nature’s Rarity
The colours of the collection read like a story of the earth itself. Soft pinks of Sienna Rose, the deep burgundy of Breccia Firenze, cabernet tones of Calacatta Viola, creamy whites of Arbescato Vagli, pale blues of Palisandro Bluette, and delicate greens of Crystal Sapphire - each piece invites a dialogue with its surroundings. Some are paired, some stand alone, but all embody a sense of sculptural poetry.
Moments of Inspiration
Certain pieces draw inspiration directly from the natural world. The Cielo Bathtub evokes the serenity of the sky with its enveloping Calacatta Onyx curves. The Mezzo and Scopolo Ottomans, named for Capri’s iconic Faraglioni rocks, balance the solidity of Sienna Rose marble with soft mohair silk upholstery. The Voluta Vanity and Marea Chaise capture fluidity and movement, while the Corda Counter Stools and Sfera Wall Sconce echo the tactile and geometric rhythms of the earth itself.
“Each fragment tells a story,” Stuart says. “A story of the stone, the hands that shape it, and the timeless beauty that emerges.” Terra Frammenti transforms natural materials into artful, functional pieces that elevate interiors, turning them into galleries of sculptural poetry.
For those who live with an eye for beauty, who treasure craftsmanship, and who wish to bring the sublime into everyday life, Terra Frammenti offers a rare glimpse of what is possible when earth, skill, and imagination meet.
