A chicken nuggets recipe for children

Children love these and they can pick them up in their fingers if they’re still too young to use a knife and fork. I like to make a double batch and freeze them. You can either fry them in a pan or bake in the oven if you need your hands for other jobs

Yield

4-6

Ingredients

500g chicken mini fillets or chicken breast cut into strips

4 heaped tbsp. (approx. 90g) plain flour

1 egg, beaten

salt and pepper (optional)

150g breadcrumbs

oil for frying

Method

Line up your plate of chicken filets, a plate of flour, a low shallow bowl with the beaten egg (seasoned with salt and pepper if using), and a plate of breadcrumbs.

Coat each fillet first in the flour, then the egg and finally the crumbs and lay in one layer on a plate. If you aren’t going to cook all of them, you can wrap and freeze or refrigerate until needed.

Heat a frying pan with enough oil to cover the base. Fry the nuggets on a medium-high heat on both sides until they are brown all over and the meat is cooked through. Or drizzle with oil and bake in a 180°C oven for 10-15 minutes until brown.
