La Residence: Where Luxury Celebrations Bloom in Franschhoek

Celebrate life’s finest moments at La Residence, a lavish Franschhoek estate of art, cuisine, and unforgettable views

A destination for life’s most treasured occasions, where anniversaries, birthdays, and once-in-a-lifetime moments unfold in effortless luxury. At La Residance, every experience is infused with elegance and from the moment you arrive, you are made to feel like royalty.

Staff warmly welcome you as your car pulls up and a glass of La Residence Rosmary Jane Rosé is placed in your hand, but it’s not the warm welcome that captures your attention; it’s the views, the bold décor and ambience. You will feel as though you have been transported to another time. The décor is hard to describe in one word, because there are touches of old-world charm and modern elements everywhere you look. Each artwork is a statement on its own, especially the pink grand piano.

A grand welcome of bold design, art and old-world glamour, setting the tone for an unforgettable La Residence stay

The 30-acre private estate is surrounded by the Mont Rochelle mountains and ancient vineyards that sweep across the views as you look outward. It’s significant, yet the estate feels private with just 11 intimate suites for couples in the main hotel and a short walk to the five family vineyard suites that cater for families with an array of one, two and three-bedroom suites, each with its own private pool and garden. Perched on a hill at the top of the estate, is La Residence's newest addition, an exclusive-use six-bedroom villa with private and personalised services, that is specifically geared toward groups and multi-generational travellers.

Each suite has been uniquely designed by Liz Biden, founder of The Royal Portfolio. She loves colour and has a design philosophy of adding something old, something new and something fun to every suite. She is an avid art collector, and a lot of her favourite pieces can be found at La Residence as well as at the other three Royal Portfolio properties, The Silo Hotel in Cape Town, Birkenhead House in Hermanus and Royal Malewane in the Greater Kruger.

Individually designed suites bursting with colour, luxury and charm, where every detail feels curated and personal

Franschhoek is known as the gourmet capital of South Africa, and food plays a big part in your experience at La Residence. Breakfast is an event with a buffet and an a la carte hot breakfast menu, but dinner is an occasion. There are a few dinner options to choose from to celebrate those special moments. The standard la carte menu has been handcrafted by Executive Head Chef, Cheslin Cornelissen, but the chef’s table paired with wine or the multiple-course cellar dinner in the wine cellar is an intimate experience that marries food, wine and place together.

A refined afternoon ritual of sweet treats, fine teas and vineyard views, best savoured slowly in true luxury style

La Residence allows you to soak in the beauty of the Franschhoek valley and unwind. Its slow pace forces you to reminisce but also to stop and focus on the moment at hand. You’ll want to switch off your phone and take it all in.
