1. GARDEN DAY

A movement originally founded by Koos Bekker and the team at Babylonstoren, Garden Day is celebrated on the 9th October, and is all about the coming together to celebrate nature, our gardens and the transformative act of gardening. Don your best flower crown, gather your closest friends and celebrate a day filled with florals and food.

2. THE INDOOR / OUTDOOR LIFESTYLE

The perfect balance of indoor and outdoor living is an art on its own and we as South Africans spend an equal amount of time in both. This month we explore homes that achieve this seamless transition from indoor to out, welcoming nature in, and extending our home interior out.

3. HAND-MADE AND HOLISTIC

This month we delve into the Cape Point mountains to find founders of Très Nagual, Florian Baumann and David Plenderleith architecting small batches of artisanal perfumes that focus on natural ingredients. Their holistic way from distilling the essential oils to packaging their product is all done by hand and truly a remarkable process to witness.

4. OUTDOOR FURNITURE

With the more time we are spending outside, our focus has shifted to beautifying the outdoor areas of our home. From our patios and verandahs to our gardens, stylish yet functional outdoor furniture is on the rise for summer ahead. Think bold and think colour for a fun update that’ll have your family and friends spending all their time out of your home rather than in it.

5. SUSTAINABLE LIVING

Throughout this issue, the theme of sustainability is apparent. From local artisans, to environmentally friendly factories, every aspect of life is now being thought of with the impact it will have on the world. Louis Vuitton is one such brand that is changing their workshops to keep their footprint to a minimal. Their new Oratoire atelier embodies sustainability in every way possible.
