There’s a new kind of warmth sweeping through Cape Town this winter - and it doesn’t come from a fireplace. At the top of The Silo in the Old Biscuit Mill, The Pot Luck Club is turning late Sunday mornings into the city’s most talked-about culinary event with its Sunday Brunch Winter Extravaganza. Running from 11 May through 28 September 2025, this indulgent, ten-course tasting menu is paired with bottomless bubbly or a DIY Bloody Mary station, all wrapped up in a festive, jazz-infused atmosphere.
For R1250 per person, this is no ordinary brunch. Instead, Executive Chef Jason Kosmas and his team present a carefully choreographed culinary experience designed to surprise and delight. “We’re thrilled to offer our loyal diners a comprehensive experience of our legendary Sunday brunch, including all the trimmings,” Kosmas says. “Each course has a story, a purpose, and above all, a connection to The Pot Luck Club’s bold, playful identity.”
The meal begins with oysters dressed in trout roe and a spicy vinaigrette - a bracing, briny bite that sets the tone for the indulgence to follow.
Guests are then led through a progression of small plates that balance decadence with precision: cornbread topped with lobster, pico de gallo and chipotle, followed by a luxurious brioche crowned with quail egg, porcini hollandaise and truffle, and a vivid venison tartare with raisin and hazelnut XO.
A highlight of the experience is The Pot Luck Club’s take on the Arnold Bennett - an elevated omelette featuring smoked haddock and baked to perfection, offering a creamy, smoky bite that’s become a signature of the brunch.
From there, a comforting seasonal risotto adds a hearty, grounded interlude before guests are invited to share the show-stopping roast lamb course.
Served family-style, the lamb arrives with a spread of seasonal sides designed to be passed around, enjoyed at leisure, and revisited for seconds.
“It’s about creating a homely atmosphere with a touch of something special,” Kosmas reflects. “By the time the main course lands, the room is buzzing with energy - there’s a sense of togetherness, of celebration. It’s our way of making people feel truly taken care of.”
Dessert comes as a trio - a delicate sourdough and chamomile madeleine, a palate-cleansing strawberry-and-cream dish, and finally, an assortment of whimsical sweet treats from the PLC pastry kitchen. Think bite-sized surprises that change week to week, always crafted to mark the end of brunch with a smile.
Of course, no Sunday brunch is complete without the right libations. Guests can opt for bottomless glasses of Graham Beck’s Brut or Rosé Cap Classique - elegant sparklers that pair effortlessly with the menu’s changing flavours. For those craving something a little punchier, the Bloody Mary station is a cult favourite. Built around a house-secret tomato base, guests can craft their perfect blend using a mix of house-infused vodkas and adventurous garnishes - from celery and cucumber to Worcestershire pearls and bacon swizzle sticks - all mixed by talented bartenders who ensure every drink is tailored to taste.
The experience is more than just gastronomic - it’s atmospheric. The dining room, already known for its panoramic views of Cape Town’s skyline, takes on a cozy charm in winter. Add to that a live jazz band providing a lively soundtrack to the festivities, and you have a brunch that feels like a celebration from start to finish.
Kosmas says the menu evolves constantly, with each course reflecting seasonality and availability. “We take our time to create each dish. Some happen organically, others take more development. But we’re always experimenting. That’s the spirit of Pot Luck.”
The response has been overwhelming, with fully booked tables throughout the previous summer season and a waiting list to match. “People have embraced the idea of letting go on a Sunday morning,” Kosmas says. “They arrive hungry, curious, and ready to be surprised.”
Located at 375 Albert Road in the iconic Old Biscuit Mill, The Pot Luck Club is open for lunch and dinner throughout the week. But it’s the Sunday Brunch that’s fast becoming a seasonal institution. Served every Sunday from 11h00 to 15h30, the Winter Extravaganza runs until the end of September, with the summer series launching again in October.
Whether you're a seasoned brunch aficionado or a first-time visitor, one thing is clear: The Pot Luck Club’s Sunday Brunch Winter Extravaganza is a meal to remember - vibrant, indulgent, and unapologetically fun. It’s Cape Town dining at its most joyful.
