It’s party and lunch season. From now till the beginning of January, many of us will be hosting a couple of dos. Sought after event designer and planner,
Clean
Keep your look very clean. That’s what works for any kind of do. Busy table set ups are not attractive.
Details
Something must stand out. Like when I did Bonang Matheba’s 31st birthday lunch a few months ago, she loves pinks, but I didn’t want to make it too pink. I found something pink that would just stand out. It worked like magic.
Have a theme
Always ensure whatever party or lunch you are planning has a theme. If you don’t have a theme, things can be a bit confused. When you theme your party from your food, the decor and music, everything speaks the same language.
Avoid last minute
No matter how small something you are planning is, take your time to plan it. Last minute can make your do look rushed and all over the place.
Use what you have
Your lunch or do doesn't have to cost you a lot. Use what you have already at your disposal in your kitchen and at home and then buy whatever is necessary. For example, you don’t have to go buy new cutlery just because you are hosting, use the one you already have. Then buy small items from Mr Price Home to make your table set up pop.
