The festive season is upon us which means Christmas décor also comes out to play – and with it, extravagant floral arrangements make a welcome appearance.

From glittery baubles to golden vases, here are few tips on how to enhance the festive spirit of your flower arrangements:

Start with the vase

Even if your flowers are simple and monochrome, you can inject the Christmas spirit with a DIY golden-painted vase. Use an old and/or cheap plastic vase that you don’t mind painting over, purchase some gold paint and voila. You can also take it one step further by adding glitter or a wrap-around ribbon to finish off the look.

Have fun with baubles

Baubles do not have to be reserved for Christmas trees. Tie them to the stems of your flowers to add some pizzaz to your arrangement.

Candy canes are an option

If you really want to get seasonal, plastic candy canes, little gifts, and other tree decorations make cute trinkets to your bouquet – especially when used as a table centre piece or being given as a gift to a loved one.

Incorporate pinecones

Add pinecones to your flower arrangement or, for something truly festive, forgo the flowers altogether and create a pinecone bouquet. Add glitter, ribbons and accents of red.
