If you’re South African, you know the importance of having enough candles in your home. Between spontaneous loadshedding to wanting to create an ambient atmosphere in your home, candles are a great way to save electricity and have warm-toned lighting in your space. As you know, we love candles over here and even more, if it’s great for the environment.

You’ve mostly likely spotted a beeswax candle at your local farmer’s market or speciality store. But more than just being aesthetically pleasing, it has some great benefits for your home space. Beeswax candles are made from the caps of bee honeycombs, which can be a time consuming task. As a result, they are a bit pricier than other candles but make for a great house warming or birthday gift.

They emit a warm-toned light

Beeswax is a material with a higher melting point so as a result, they have a cleaner burn. This means that they give off less soot, burn longer and brighter than cheaper candles. The light that it emits, is brighter than any other material used to make candles.

It’s cleaner for your home and the environment

Did you know? Beeswax candles can help purify the air wherever its burnt. These candles are also a natural, renewable resource as the material is an by-product of bees pollinating around us. Beeswax is a dense material, and thus it burns slower. As a result it’s less likely to drip and potentially mess up your home decor.

All about the natural scents

If you’re particularly sensitive to synthetic or strong fragrances in your home, beeswax is a great option for you. The candles have a natural, subtle honey scent (thanks to the honeycomb!) and help keep your home smelling great without being an irritant.
