Allocate a budget for the dinner

And stick to it. It’s easy to go overboard when hosting and it can quickly become a very expensive exercise best avoided.

Plan the menu in advance

So that you know you’ll have all of your ingredients (this will also stop you from buying unnecessary items). Got a fully stocked fridge already? Build your menu around these – it’ll make the whole thing simpler.

There’s nothing wrong with asking for help

Get a friend to assist with the prep work; it’ll halve the time.

Choose recipes that can be made ahead of time

This will free up your time in the kitchen to enjoy it with your guests.
