Over the past few years in the limelight, J’Something’s love for food and talents in the kitchen have become evident. He recently released his own cookbook called Somethings Cooking and opened his first restaurant, Somethings Cooking By J’Something, in partnership with Sun International.
Located in Sun International’s Time Square in Pretoria East, Somethings Cooking By J’Something, is a trendy venue with a relaxed atmosphere that is filled with many of his personal touches. J’Something created each recipe based on a personal story from his life and childhood spiced up with influences from West Africa, Portugal and South Africa.
He shared the story that led up to the opening of his restaurant on his website. This is an excerpt of what he had to say:
‘Two weeks after my father’s passing I got a call from Sun International. I was told about the opening of Time Square and that there were three signature restaurants of which they would like one of those to belong to me.’
‘Now tell me this isn't weird? Without them knowing who my father or my mother were. Without them knowing my father had passed away. I get offered my dream, my own restaurant, this very restaurant has a whole new level of meaning for me…’
‘Today, this is where I can share my passion for food with you, offering a fresh twist to traditional cooking.’
