Meet 6 of Design Indaba 2019’s Emerging Creatives

The internationally acclaimed creative conference, the Design Indaba, is upon us again and the event that sets the creative standards and tone for the year has been running at the Artscape in Cape Town since Wednesday and will come to an end on Friday, March 1st 2019.

Every year, the Design Indaba in partnership with the Department of Arts and Culture select 50 of the most talented individuals who are constantly changing, contributing and setting new trends on the creative landscape.

Here, we will introduce you to a few of the creatives particularly in the architecture, space and interiors industries who we will definitely be keeping an eye on in 2019 and beyond.

Max-Gordon Stoffberg

Max-Gordon Stoffberg is an architecture graduate who is a 2016 top 100 finalist for the ABSA/Barclays L’Atelier art competition and an artist whose work has been exhibited in the Absa Gallery in Johannesburg.

Lesego Maloka

Industrial and product designer Lesego Maloka is a creative who is in love with African heritage. Lesego is the founder of Pone Creatives, a company that creates furniture, fabrics and gifts.

Simphiwe Mlambo

Durban University of Technology interior design graduate, Simphiwe Mlambo, is next on the list of emerging creatives to watch in 2019. Simphiwe owns a design company named Clan that creates bespoke items inspired by African culture.

Christine Goosen

After obtaining a degree in Fine Art at the University of Stellenbosch, furniture and homeware designer Christine Goosen went on to start her own modern design company called Jacobs Collection.
