A fabulous time was had at the first H&G It Yourself event with TikTok South Africa at the Old Biscuit Mill in Cape Town. We teamed up with local DIY workshops Apothacafe to make dessert-inspired candles, and Elderflower to create our own terrariums. Celebrating the power of learning new crafts and skills on TikTok, the #TikTokThatsHau hashtag has gathered more than 41 million views on the app since the launch of the campaign in July.

Bright Sparks: Desert-inspired candles with Apothacafe

Apothacafe brought the sweetness to the H&G it Yourself event with sweet-scented and colourful tart candles. Guests created their own delicious tart-like candles from melting down the wax, to dying it their favourite colours, and adding delicious candy-coloured toppings. They looked good enough to eat!

Turning a new leaf: Terrariums with Elderflower

Not only did guests create beautiful scented candles, but they tapped their green thumbs with Elderflower to create small, but mighty terrariums! These small microcosms are created to mimic an ecosystem with a cycle rain with little to no maintenance. These were a favourite among guests who took their terrariums home to add to their own DIY creations and indoor plant collections.
