It’s a great colour choice if you’re looking to rejuvenate an existing colour scheme or if you’re trying to unite a palette of colours. Whether you’re going traditional, or leaning towards modern, black makes everything look good. Add some drama with or make a statement – but know that there are plenty of ways to introduce the dark delight into your home.

Incorporating black in your bathroom is a great way to give your space an infusion of style, especially if you have a flat white scheme or a colour palette, which needs a pick me up. It’s always hard to pull-off an all black colour scheme because black will often make a room seem claustrophobic and gloomy, but when black is used sparingly it works wonders to highlight certain aspects of any room, regardless of the rooms style.

Kitchen

Use lamp shades as a stepping stone if you still aren’t sure how much you black you want to incorporate. Add black accents like vases or decorative pots on the windowsill, coupled with some black accessories. A black sink is also a great option. Black cabinets are a strong statement when mixed with lighter walls and counters, or they make a striking addition to an already darker-toned kitchen. A black countertop is a great option if you’re looking for more than an accent, but less than multiple cabinets. They add a lovely polished look to any space and come in a wide variety of materials, so you’ll get the look and texture you want.

Bathroom

Black shower frames are a great way to make a contemporary or classical statement. As are black faucets, mirror frames and accessories. From shower trays, baths and vanity units, adding a black statement piece will give your room a wow factor focal point. If you are not prepared to invest in some of the more expensive items, painting your door black or having a black tiled wall is a great alternative.

Bedroom

Go monochrome in your bedroom by decorating a black bed with white decorative pillows. Include mirrors throughout your bedroom to add light to the room. Painting your walls black is a contemporary trend that can work well with both minimalist and sophisticated styles. If you’re not sure about covering the entire room in black, start with just one wall or a section. Or go for bold modern patterns in your black bedroom's wallpaper. Pair the wallpaper with mirrored decor and furniture for a unique look.

Lounge

Make a statement with black floors or ceilings or go smaller with black furniture, artwork or window frames. Black furniture is sleek, beautiful, and bold. One of the greatest benefits of black furniture is that it can be contrasted with any other colour you like. Painting a floor black is a big commitment; so if you are unsure, cheat with a rug instead. Solid or patterned, a black rug will always look clever, complex, and contemporary.

Home office

Textured black walls are perfect for industrial, farmhouse and rustic home offices while more polished black finishes fit in with modern, Scandinavian and contemporary styles. Beyond black walls, you can also add black bookshelves. A work desk in black and cabinets in dark wood also ensure that you have a dashing home office with a curated look.
