Add instant glamour to your bathroom by creating a feature wall with an elegant wall treatment.

The product

This is de Gournay’s‘Old Gold’ gilded paper with pearlescent antiqued finish (and a moisture-protection glaze) available through St Leger & Viney. For the freestanding tub, try the slipper baths from Antique Bathrooms or go to Victorian Bathrooms for a traditional ball-and-claw roll-top option.

A modern interpretation of the traditional use of marble pairs the material with slick mirror and graphic timber to create harmony in contrast.

The products

The Volakas marble from WOMAG is a popular option and will replicate this look. For something different, ask for the regal Emperador colour (a luxe chocolate brown with white vein) and try combining it with cabinetry in brushed oak.

7. Built-in seating

When designing your shower, include a built-in ledge for added comfort and a shelf for bathing products.

The products

For a colour similar to this one, try Douglas Jones’‘82 Emerald Green’ tiles, available through Natural Stone Warehouse. Alternatively, browse through Kenzan Tiles’ colourful range of crystal glass mosaics in varying sizes.

8. Moody Colour Treatment

Give your bathroom a dark backdrop and contrast it with a glossy marble floor and crisp white fixtures for a dramatic yet harmonious effect.

The products

For a similar wall treatment, try CreteStain by Cemcrete in black or blue — a treatment that has subtle colour variations. For fixtures and fittings similar to these, visit Bespoke Bathrooms or Boutique Baths.

9. Atmospheric lighting

Add an ethereal touch to your bathroom by backlighting raised panels with LED strip lighting.

The product

Consult Province Lighting for expert advice on how to achieve the same atmosphere. For the toilet, the newly released Geberit Monolith system (pictured above with white glass) can be installed using existing connections and drains and does not need any additional building work.
