Designed for a couple with distinct personalities and individual lifestyles, True Masculine is an apartment that explores the art of balance. Located in Oral, Kazakhstan, the 117.5-square-metre residence was designed in 2025 by Nadira Mustafina of Fenty Design Studio, with the aim of creating a home where contrasting preferences could exist together in harmony.

Rather than choosing one dominant aesthetic, the project embraces duality. Masculine and feminine influences are carefully balanced throughout the interior, creating a space that feels personal, refined and connected.

Designing For Two Individualities

The foundation of True Masculine is rooted in the idea that a home should reflect the people who live in it. For this apartment, the challenge was not simply to create a beautiful interior, but to develop a space where each owner could feel represented.

The layout introduces personalised zones, allowing different areas of the home to express different moods and personalities. Instead of competing with one another, these spaces work together as part of a larger composition.

Thoughtful zoning allows each area to express personality while contributing to a cohesive and balanced interior story

This approach reflects a growing trend in residential design: moving away from one-size-fits-all interiors and towards homes that acknowledge individual lifestyles, routines and emotional connections.

A Masculine Palette Of Depth And Sophistication

The masculine area of the apartment is defined by a rich, dramatic palette of deep blue-green, graphite and black tones. These colours create a sense of strength, confidence and sophistication while maintaining a calm atmosphere.

Dark shades are balanced through careful layering, ensuring the spaces feel elegant rather than heavy. Texture plays an important role, adding depth and warmth to the darker palette through carefully selected finishes and materials.

A Softer Space For Comfort And Calm

In contrast, the feminine zone introduces a lighter and more serene atmosphere. Soft hues and warmer tones create a feeling of comfort, openness and tranquillity.

This area demonstrates how subtle colour choices can influence the emotional quality of a space. Where the darker rooms communicate confidence and structure, the lighter areas bring softness and ease. The transition between the two zones is carefully considered, allowing the apartment to move naturally between different moods without feeling disconnected.

Creating Harmony Through Materials

Although the apartment is divided into distinct areas, a consistent design language ties everything together. Shared materials, thoughtful detailing and carefully selected finishes create continuity throughout the home.

This balance is what allows the contrasting styles to coexist successfully. Rather than creating separate interiors within one apartment, the design establishes a dialogue between different expressions of personality. The attention to detail ensures that every room feels connected, while still maintaining its own identity.

A Contemporary Approach To Personalised Living

True Masculine represents a more nuanced understanding of modern interior design. It challenges the idea that a shared home must follow a single aesthetic direction. Instead, it shows that contrast can create character.

Different tastes, moods and preferences can exist side by side when supported by thoughtful spatial planning. For couples designing a home together, this approach offers an inspiring alternative: a space where individuality is celebrated rather than compromised.

Where Contrast Becomes Connection

The success of True Masculine lies in its ability to transform difference into harmony. Through carefully balanced colours, personalised zones and a unified design approach, the apartment becomes a reflection of two people sharing one space.
