Iced tea is a delicious drink for summer, and if you make your own, it can be really healthy too. Bottled iced teas on the market are generally filled with plenty of sugar and preservatives, and while they may taste good, they might not be the healthiest option for you or your family. Making your own iced tea is quick, easy, and healthy, plus, you can customise recipes to include your favourite ingredients and flavours.

Don’t give up your healthy habits this festive season – you can still enjoy the health benefits of your favourite tea, even if you can’t face a hot cup during soaring temperatures! Try this delicious, iced tea recipe to enjoy.

Ingredients

Fresh lemon/orange

Mint leaves

Sweetener (optional: honey or brown sugar)

2 teabags (a flavour of your choice)

1 cup fresh fruit

Ice cubes

Method

1. Add 2 cups of water into a saucepan and heat until it begins to boil.

2. Place 2 teabags into a jug, pour in the hot water and allow to steep for 3 – 5 minutes.

3. Squeeze some fresh lemon or orange into the jug and stir. For extra flavour add fresh slices of lemon or orange.

4. Add a sweetener of your choice (either brown sugar or honey). For those who follow a clean lifestyle and are diabetic, avoid using any sweeteners.

5. Don’t forget to add your fresh fruit, ice cubes and mint as the perfect garnish.

Serve and enjoy!

Store in the fridge in a jar or glass until chilled to your preference and give it a big stir before serving.
