The Franschhoek wine valley offers a plethora of beautiful and majestic wine farms. One that stands out is the Allée Bleue Wine Estate situated in the heart of this winegrowing region. Allee Bleue is a popular wine farm, that creates authentic award-winning wines. It is also renowned for its wide variety of fruit and fresh herbs grown and sold at your local supermarket. The estate is ranked amongst the top three herb growers in the province after all. It also produces out-of-this world mission olives and cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil.

Allée Bleue Estate manages to consistently come up with something new and exciting to do. Think super cool and fun concepts such as ‘Chicnics’ in addition to the usual wine-blending and tasting experiences, live events, concerts, weddings, and so much more.

On the 1st of May Allée Bleue Estate will open its gates to visitors for its very first May Day Meander. Learn more about its wine, fruit production, herbs, olives and olive oil whilst experiencing “Behind-The-Scenes” farming activities surrounded by vineyards, orchards and fragrant fields of lavender.

To play along you need to wear a touch of red, and join in on a leisurely, hour-long, walk. The route includes stops hosted by experts, enjoy delicious bites to eat and taste wine as you go along.

Sounds good? The day starts at 10am at their tasting room where you can enjoy a welcome drink, receive a briefing and a map, before setting off on a walk through some of the lesser-explored areas of the estate.

Andy why the red dress code? The theme for this inaugural May Day Meander is red and special prizes will be awarded to the best dressed guests including a lucky draw after the meander.

The May Day Meander costs between R175 and R335 per adult, depending on the lunch option chosen, and R105 per child. It is suitable for everyone and a low level of fitness is required, but it is unfortunately not wheelchair-accessible as some areas of the route are uneven due to farming activities.
