For many years, the Royal Family has garnered our attention, from their outings to their lavish homes, the monumental and historic events as well as the progression of the Royal Monarchy in today’s society. With the recent passing of Queen Elizabeth II, all eyes are focused on this historic change and how this will effect the rest of the world.
With such attention drawn to the royal family, we would like to take an in-depth look into Buckingham Palace, the administrative headquarters to the monarch. While the palace is open to the public in certain areas, British interior, fabric and furniture designer Ashley Hicks managed to get a detailed view of the royal office, the other little-known rooms and provide his thoughts.
In 2017, Ashley photographed and wrote a history of Buckingham Palace: The Interiors, published by Rizzoli in conjunction with the Royal Collection. These photographed images were used together with a narrated documentary in 2020 that explores the inner details of Buckingham Palace and all its royalty. Broken up into a three part documentary, Buckingham Palace is shown to the world in all its glory.
