Cape Town will host a month of exciting ceramic events and exhibitions in November 2018

Ceramics SA’s Corobrik National Ceramics Biennale will be taking place in the Mother City from the 11th of November to the 4th of December 2018.

Hosted by the Rust-en-Vrede Gallery and Clay Museum in Durbanville, the biennial will be composed a variety of attractions including curated exhibitions at the gallery. Ceramic artists from across the country will enter their work for possible selection into the exhibition and the selected pieces will compete for the Biennale award.

 

The panel of judges will include renowned ceramic artist, Kate Malone who was an expert judge in the BBC series ‘The Great Pottery Throw Down’. Kate will also be presenting a series of full-day ceramic workshops to the public while in South Africa, with the first one being at the Durbanville High School on Saturday 3 November, followed by Port Elizabeth on 14 November, Durban on 17 November and Johannesburg on 24 November.

 

There will also be many other events taking place as part of Cape Town’s Ceramics month such as the Rondebosch Potters Market on Saturday the 17th of November and the sculpture garden and brick installation and events which will run concurrently to the biennial at the Rust-en-Vrede Gallery and Clay Museum.

South African sculptor, Strijdom van der Merwe, will erect the brick installation which will be accompanied by a fun Curious Creatures ceramic sculpture garden.
