If you’ve been looking for an opportunity to meet Lady Skollie, the artist that describes herself as the ‘infamous art dikbek’—then make sure you’re at the Good and Evil  exhibition at CIRCA Gallery for Keyes Thursdays, on 6 June.

Good and Evil debuted on 30 May 2019 and highlights issues of gender, sex, lust, greed, consent and control. 

Lady Skollie is renowned for her provocative work that confronts and breaks taboos. The artist will be showcasing her most recent works depicting her impressions of light and dark, violence and peace, through a biblical narrative. 

‘n Skaans teen die donker (protection against the dark): I collect them all together under my arms, lifting us all up together, up and away from the past. 2019. Other artists at CIRCA include Teresa Firmino and Limited Edition Print Pop Up's LL Editions—a collaboration between Master Printer Leshoka Joe Legate and popular upcoming South African artists, such as Asanda Kupa, Amy van den Bergh, Andrew Tshabangu, Sam Nhlengthwa and many more.

TMRW Gallery, just one level up, is hosting the The Invisible Exhibition showcasing five virtual reality performances and ten augmented reality artworks produced by leading South African artists. Participating artists include William Kentridge, Marcus Neustetter, Blessing Ngobeni, Lady Skollie, Sue Pam-Grant, Sylvaine Strike, Siyabonga Mthembu, Nhlanhla Mahlangu, Janus Fouché and Jonah Sack.

Urban Gaze is also showing in The Atrium - as well as an exhibition of work by Soweto-based artist and photographer, Musa Nxumalo. You can also look forward to a live band performance by Swazi Cartell and DJ Boisanza filling the evening with more funky sounds.
