For years, Athena Calderone has shaped some of the most influential interiors on social media through her celebrated lifestyle platform, EyeSwoon, and her acclaimed design studio. Now, the New York-based creative is taking the next step in her design evolution with the launch of Assembler I, her first independently designed furniture collection and the inaugural release from Studio Athena Calderone.

Available exclusively through The Future Perfect, the 14-piece collection marks a significant milestone for Calderone, translating the layered sophistication of her interiors into a series of sculptural furniture pieces that feel both contemporary and timeless.

A restrained material palette of polished wood, lacquer and soft textiles underscores Calderone's commitment to craftsmanship. Floral arrangements and subtle lighting soften the collection's strong architectural lines, creating spaces that feel inviting rather than formal.

A study in form and proportion

Drawing inspiration from the restraint and glamour of French Art Deco, Assembler I explores the relationship between architecture, craftsmanship and materiality. Each piece is designed with a strong sense of presence, balancing bold silhouettes with refined detailing.

The collection is crafted from high-gloss wood, lacquer and sustainable parchment, punctuated with subtle nickel accents. The resulting palette is rich without feeling excessive, creating a cohesive family of pieces that prioritise longevity over trends.

Among the standout designs are the graphic Noailles Screen, the sculptural Courbe Side Table and the angular Épure Sofa and Ottoman. Together, they demonstrate Calderone's interest in creating furniture that functions as both object and architecture.

Designed as a collection of future heirlooms, Assembler I balances monumental scale with refined detailing. Here, geometric lounge chairs and sculptural furnishings bring a distinctly architectural presence to the living space.

Future heirlooms with architectural presence

Rather than chasing novelty, Assembler I focuses on enduring design. The collection's generous proportions and carefully considered material choices give each piece a sense of permanence, while its clean lines ensure it remains relevant across a variety of interiors.

According to Calderone, the collection emerged from years of travel, research and an immersive engagement with design history, particularly early twentieth-century decorative arts. Her aim was to create pieces that honour the traditions of craftsmanship while responding to the needs of contemporary living.

"I've always held a deep reverence for history," Calderone explains. "Assembler I emerged from immersive research into early 20th-century design, a period where artisanship was paramount."

That respect for artistry is evident throughout the collection. From softly curved profiles to meticulously finished surfaces, each piece reflects an appreciation for material integrity and thoughtful construction.

Drawing on early twentieth-century decorative arts, the collection pairs rich materials with clean-lined silhouettes. The result is furniture that feels rooted in history while remaining effortlessly relevant to modern interiors.

The beginning of a new design chapter

While Assembler I may be Calderone's first furniture collection, it is intended as the opening volume in an ongoing series exploring collectible design. The launch signals an exciting expansion of Studio Athena Calderone's creative output and positions the designer within a growing movement of multidisciplinary creatives crossing the boundaries between interiors, architecture and product design.

Presented exclusively through The Future Perfect, one of the world's leading contemporary design galleries, the collection joins a roster of highly collectible works from some of the industry's most influential designers and makers. Assembler I offers a compelling vision of contemporary luxury: one rooted in craftsmanship, restraint and enduring beauty.
