The Trenery Guild, established in February 2018, is a creative collaborative project that partners Trenery with some of South Africa’s leading artists, artisans , and craftspeople. Together they celebrate the brand’s core values of craftsmanship , quality, and excellence. Each creative has been asked to interpret the Trenery anchors of authentic fabrication, unique print, superior knitwear and expert tailoring through an especially commissioned artwork or unique in-store activation.

These activations include gallery-like exhibitions , tea-making ceremonies, niche scent journeys and gin tasting. The first installation in March featured textile artist Pierre Fouché who worked with visual artist Pierre le Riche. They created an impressive window installation inspired by the brand’s limited-edition capsule collection, The Edit at the V&A Waterfront store. The second collaborator featured entrepreneur and author,  Swaady Martin of Yswara with a lovely tea-tasting experience at the Cavendish store. Swaady drew from Trenery’s unique folkloric spice print to inspire an exclusive tea blend, made from a rooibos base with warm chocolate, coconut and mocha overtones.

This month features artisanal parfumier, Marie Aoun and founder of The Saint D’lci’s, an African parfumerie, with a beautifuly crafted limited-edition candle.  The Saint D’Ici x Trenery Guild candle was launched on 10 May at the Hyde Park Trenery store.

With mother’s day around the corner and with hashtag buy local, #sustainable farming and #artisanal products trending, the limited edition candle, is a great  gift idea. The candle is created with a South African beeswax base and has warm honeyed notes. Its stunning, calming scent evokes the richness of cashmere.

Marie uses ethically sourced ingredients from farmers with sustainable farming practices
and crafts them into limited edition perfumes that pay homage to the seasons. Craft distillery Pienaar & Son will be the final collaboration in June, just in time for Father’s day.
