Poetry has opened the doors to its first dedicated Johannesburg lifestyle concept store at Nelson Mandela Square, marking a new chapter for the South African brand as it expands its focus beyond fashion and further into interiors and considered living.

Following the evolution of its Sea Point concept store, the new space brings together furniture, homeware, décor, and fashion, creating a setting where the different facets of the aesthetic can be experienced under one roof.

The space is designed around the idea that personal style extends beyond what we wear, as opposed to treating fashion and interiors as separate categories. Furniture, objects, and decorative pieces sit alongside seasonal fashion collections, offering a more cohesive view of how the things we surround ourselves with can shape the character of a home.

From furniture and decorative objects to seasonal fashion, Poetry’s Nelson Mandela Square store offers a broader expression of the brand’s lifestyle aesthetic.

The home is central to the concept. The store draws on the quieter rituals of everyday life – gathering around a table, settling in with a book, or simply living among objects that have personal meaning. Its furniture, homeware and décor collections are intended to bring warmth and personality to these everyday spaces, instead of striving for an overly polished sense of perfection.

This shift reflects Poetry's broader evolution as a brand. Once primarily associated with fashion, it now encompasses a more expansive approach to lifestyle, with furniture and homeware being an important part of its offering. The Johannesburg store brings its most comprehensive lifestyle collection to date together in one destination.

Designed around the home, the new Poetry of Living store explores the connection between personal style and the spaces we inhabit.

For Creative Director Johan Hewitt-van der Merwe, the idea is rooted in individuality. “Living beautifully isn’t really about perfection,” he says, describing a home as a reflection of the objects, memories, and routines that bring meaning to everyday life.

The store also forms part of Poetry's ongoing engagement with South Africa's design industry through its Trade Programme. Aimed at interior designers, decorators, architects and stylists, the programme includes trade pricing, access to furniture and homeware collections, fabric customisation on selected furniture ranges, early access to certain collections, and support from a dedicated Trade Partner Consultant.
