Valentine’s Day is gearing up and it can be a tough day for anyone who might be fresh out of a break-up or if you’re just feeling lonely. Enter Galentine’s Day, inspired by hit TV show Parks and Recreation, the day is all about gathering your closest friends and having them over to celebrate the love you share. In the spirit of hosting and making your home feeling super festive, we’ve rounded up some fun Galentine’s Day ideas that can be used all year around.

Host a Paint and Sip

While brunch is lovely, it’s always great to do an activity with friends. Paint and sip events are exactly what they say they are, it’s a fun social artistic experience where you get to explore your creativity through art and having a glass of bubbles while you do so (non-alcoholic if needs be!). These activities are relatively easy to host, all you need are paint supplies, snacks and drinks of your choice. Guests can work according to a theme or just see where the flow takes you.

Plan a themed movie night

Is there anything nicer than a movie night/sleepover with friends? Make a night of it and create a themed evening for cinema - it could be a focus on fantasy or your fave romcoms. If you’ve wanted to get a projector, this could be the perfect excuse to invest in the equipment you need to elevate your movie night experience.

Spend time volunteering together

Another way to enjoy a day out with friends is spending the day at an organisation of your choice and helping out as a volunteer. Think the day at a soup kitchen, hosting a donation drive or participating in a fair to help raise funds. You can donate your time, resources or get your friends together to pool resources and give back to the community around you.

Take part in a karaoke or games night

And finally, an underrated activity that can be enjoyed across age groups - a karaoke night is a good way to unwind and celebrate with friends. You can host it at home and choose a theme (think 70s, 80s or love songs!). While you’ll need the equipment - it’s definitely simple to put together. Alternatively if you don’t want to hear your friends sing along badly, you can try a games night, from Scrabble to 30 Seconds or Monopoly - the main point is to spend time together.
