TANG restaurant at the Cape’s V&A Waterfront is a striking blend of Asian fine dining and glamorous sophistication. Designed by award-winning interior architect Tristan du Plessis, the space channels high-end hospitality influences from Tokyo and Bali, with natural stone, honed marble, and dramatic lighting that creates a scene-stealing environment in which to enjoy their Japanese-inspired dining and drinking experience.
Their limited-edition Kaiseki experience, available for lunch and dinner until the end of July 2025, offers diners a journey through precision and flavour and is designed to be enjoyed with friends and family. What is Kaiseki, you ask? It’s a style of traditional Japanese cuisine in which a series of very small, intricate dishes are served. We sampled the standout dinner menu, featuring bold favourites like crispy rock shrimp, spicy tenderloin, and the signature Angry Duck, served with coconut rice. A robata grill adds smoky depth to the menu, especially in dishes like charcoal-grilled wagyu. All paired with their in-house wine label, Mirabelle, which worked seamlessly with both seafood and spice.
Guests can choose between a 5-course lunch or an 8-course dinner. The lunch menu is priced at R450 per person, or R500 with a glass of Mirabelle Rose, while the dinner menu is R650 per person, or R700 with a glass of Mirabelle Rose.
With its design-forward interiors, elevated Asian cuisine, and harbour-facing terrace, TANG is one of Cape Town’s most luxurious dining destinations, perfect for sunset cocktails, special occasions, or simply indulging in modern culinary theatre.
