There’s something fun about making things with just the ingredients in your pantry. While this can’t be applied to everything, and maybe making your own cosmetics or bath products from home ingredients might not work, it might be great for your indoor garden. Recently, we wrote about making your own batch of flower food and now, we’re looking at the potential benefits of oats as fertiliser.

You can check out the video below for a quick recipe using oats and tea as a fertiliser mix for your plants.

The benefits of oats is that it’s organically rich in nutrients like iron, vitamin E, fibre and other necessary minerals. So it’s not just great for your body, it can be beneficial for your indoor plants too. Oats is known for being a budget-friendly food option, so it’s also cost effective if it has multiple uses.

Curious about other home made fertiliser options? Social media is an ever growing hub of information and one other alternative that stood out was an eggshells and vinegar.
