Arguably the room that gets used the most in a family household is the kitchen. Not only is it where meals are prepared, it’s where family bonds are strengthened, traditions are started, memories are made, and more.

A room that holds so much value then, should not be a cause of frustration and dread every time a mealtime rolls around. To remedy this, experts and organisational enthusiasts have for years attempted to provide the best strategies and universal tips for organising our kitchens.

If you’ve just moved in to a new place or want to rearrange the widely regarded, heart of your home, here are few organisational tips to increase ease and efficiency in your kitchen.

Clean out draws and cabinets

The basis of any organisational overhaul starts with discarding clutter and unwanted items. It’s easy for products to accumulate in the kitchen - you might even be surprised to find how many items passed their due date that are still stocked away at the back of your cupboards.

Also take a look at dishes and crockery and throw out or give away items that you haven’t used in a while.

Group similar items together

Once you have your cleaned out cupboards, it's time to re-pack. Group items in similar categories together so that they’re easier to access when needed. For example, group all you baking items together, dishes that you use often, seasonal ware and fancy plates. You can create as many categories as you like as long you know where everything is.

Use clear containers to store items

Another top tip when organizing your cupboards is to use clear containers. This will help you quickly see what you’re looking for, particularly small items such as sauces, cereal packets or pudding mixes.
