Having worked with culinary stars such as Rueben Riffel, Michael Deg and pastry chef Andre Steyn, it is no wonder that Guy Bennett is now a force to be reckoned with in the industry.
Guy Bennett will open the GiGi Rooftop restaurant as executive chef in April 2019, which will be located in Design Hotels’ newest Cape venue, the Gorgeous George hotel.
The South African-born culinary artist found his passion in the Parisian food markets at the tender age of 7 and has never looked back since. In 2009 Bennett went on to achieve his Advanced Food and Wine Chefs diploma at the Paarl based Hurst Campus and has most recently worked in high-end restaurants at the Grande Provence Heritage Estate and the One & Only hotel.
For the GiGi Rooftop restaurant, Bennett is planning on introducing some of his new and unique touches to the menu.
‘Our philosophy at Gorgeous George is 'come for breakfast, stay all day’, so the menu will have a relaxed feel, using some classic French techniques, while also drawing on all my experiences, which include Asian fusion, South African and modern UK influences,’ Bennett said.
