It’s no secret that pizza is one of the most loved delicacies in the world, and trendy pizzeria Col’Cacchio, serves some of the best pizza in South Africa. Their menu was given an exciting twist when they partnered with influential, local personalities for the 2018 Col’Cacchio Celebrity Chef Showdown.

This annual campaign, now in its 10th year, sees celebrities creating out-of-the-ordinary yet irresistible pizzas. Each of them is a square-shaped and limited-edition meal, available at all Col’Cacchio eateries across SA and Namibia, until 30 November. The collaboration is an uplifting one since it raises funds for the Children’s Hospital Trust, on behalf of the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital.

The kind-hearted celebs who have put their culinary skills to the test are none other than social media influencer Nadia Jaftha, Afrikaans hip hop artist Jack Parow and gastronomy master Siba Mtongana. Each of them designed a pizza that’s a nod to their heritage and boasts a combination of toppings that’ll make your mouth water.

Nadia’s, influenced by Cape Malay cooking and named Jou Ma Sala, is a spicy chicken and Masala-infused pizza. Siba also opted for poultry, but her pizza, Sibalicious, was a piquant, sticky chicken treat. Lastly, Jack’s pizza, Wors Tokolosh, was inspired by the much-loved local tradition of braaiing, and is topped with pieces of meat.

R5 of the selling price of their pizzas is going to be donated to charity, to help Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital gather R112 million, for a cutting-edge ER unit. Since 2009, more than R2 million has been collected in support of good causes, and this year’s campaign is sure to boost that amount and set the bar rather high for future editions of the Col’Cacchio Celebrity Chef Showdown.
