Held at London’s glamorous Florattica Rooftop, the 2023 Restaurant and Bar Design Awards showcased the world’s most beautiful and creative restaurants and bar experiences. The Restaurant and Bar Design Awards are known as the most important and influential design competition for food and beverage spaces worldwide, and the judges did not disappoint with their choices of this year’s winners. The Overall Restaurant Winner was Chicchetti in London known for its luxurious Italian cuisine and art deco aesthetic designed by Fettle Design. The Overall Bar Winner was Luma, in Adelaide, Australia, which was designed by Hachem.

Overall Restaurant Winner: Cicchetti (London, UK) by Fettle Design

Taking home one of the most prestigious awards of the night, Cicchetti is known for its artistically prepared, regionally inspired plates, that use ingredients sourced directly from artisan producers in Italy. Guests at Cicchetti — deisnged by Fettle, a boutique interior architecture and design firm — can start with an aperitivo alongside crostini and stuzzichini.

The menu also features seasonally inspired choices and Cicchetti signature dishes, including decadent black truffle ravioli; burrata with smoked aubergine and toasted hazelnuts; and black salt sea bass with herb and olive oil salmoriglio. Located on Hans Road, adjacent to the world’s most luxurious department store, Harrods, Cicchetti is another luxurious postcard from the suburb of Knightsbridge.

Overall Bar Winner: Luma (Adelaide, Australia), designed by Hachem

Taking home the highest award in the bar category, Australia’s Luma won Overall Bar Winner, for its design by Hachem, who have also won previously for the World’s Best Lighting. Hachem, known for being a little unconventional, clearly resolves practical challenges with flair; from big picture thinking with attention, to the smallest details.

Luma, meaning ‘light’ in Latin, is the reimagined bar at the heart of Adelaide’s beautiful boutique Art Nouveau hotel, The Playford. An ethos of European simplicity is underpinned by bold flavours and locally sourced organic ingredients that form the foundation of our mixologists cocktails. Famous for its barista coffee, express lunch, and high tea, it’s also known as the perfect meeting spot to catch up with friends and business associates, the rejuvenated Luma is a feast for the senses.
