As summer unfolds across the Constantia Valley, Steenberg Spa is inviting guests to rediscover a slower rhythm - one shaped by nature, stillness, and gentle renewal. Its new seasonal menu blends simplicity with sensory richness, honouring the healing energy of the natural world and the estate’s deep connection to its landscape.
Steenberg Hotel & Spa has also been awarded one Michelin Key in the Very Special Stay category, as the Michelin Guide introduces its prestigious system to the African continent for the first time. Considered the hotel world’s equivalent of Michelin Stars, the Michelin Keys recognise excellence in character, design, service, and guest experience.
“Steenberg's Michelin Key is a testament to the dedication of our entire team,” says Catherine Schulze, Managing Director of Steenberg Hotel & Spa. “From the vineyards to the spa gardens, every detail reflects our commitment to offering guests a sanctuary of calm and connection.”
A Menu Inspired by Nature’s Rhythm
Designed as an invitation to return to presence and simplicity, the new menu draws inspiration from the cycles of the seasons. “Our inspiration this season comes from a return to simplicity,” says Monique Lagorie, Steenberg Spa Manager. “At Steenberg Spa, we believe wellness begins with a connection to oneself, to others, and to nature. This menu reflects that philosophy, with treatments that draw nourishment from the earth and encourage presence in every moment.”
Many therapies now take place outdoors in the Secret and Scented Gardens, where sound, fragrance, and natural calm together shape the treatment experience. The atmosphere is immersive and restorative - wellbeing surrounded by vineyards and mountains.
This season also celebrates ila, the renowned organic wellness brand named for “Mother Earth”. Crafted from wild-grown botanicals and infused with vibrational energy, ila’s treatments bring spiritual grounding to the spa.
Featured treatments include:
- Kundalini Back Therapy – a deeply restorative ritual that balances the nervous system and releases tension.
- Ananda Facial – a glow-inducing treatment using marma massage and soothing green clay.
- Prana Vitality Massage – a detoxifying full-body therapy to boost energy and reduce fatigue.
“Our partnership with ila allows guests to experience what we call grounded luxury,” says Lagorie. “It’s an approach that goes beyond pampering. It is sensory, emotional, and deeply restorative. Guests leave feeling not just refreshed but realigned.”
A Summer of Lightness, Hydration and Renewal
Reflecting the ease of the warmer months, the menu emphasises circulation, hydration, and renewal. Signature experiences such as Scented Bliss and Romantic Escape invite guests to unwind in fresh summer air, while Soulful Decadence and Being in Balance blend body and facial treatments for full-body rejuvenation.
“Our summer treatments prepare the skin and body for warmer months while helping guests feel lighter and more energised,” Lagorie explains. “It’s a time to let go of heaviness and step into the season with clarity and ease.”
Introducing the Thermal Suite Experience
Anchoring the summer offering is Steenberg Spa’s new outdoor Thermal Suite Experience, inspired by Finnish sauna culture. Surrounded by gardens, guests journey through contrasting temperatures - from the dry heat of the sauna to the Nordic ice bucket shower, then an ice bath or a warm soak in the vitality pool.
“The Thermal Suite is a journey of contrasts,” says Lagorie. “The heat soothes and detoxifies, while the cold invigorates and renews. It awakens the senses and allows the body to recalibrate naturally.”
The Thermal Suite is complimentary for guests booking treatments valued at R2 000 or more, while hotel guests enjoy full access throughout their stay.
A Sanctuary Rooted in Place
Steenberg’s deep sense of place - where vineyards, mountains, and sculpture-lined gardens meet—continues to shape its philosophy of wellbeing. Guests may unwind at The Pool House, sip crafted cocktails, or stroll through the estate before dining or wine tasting.
“Steenberg has always offered a complete journey of restoration,” says Lagorie. “Whether enjoying a glass of Sauvignon Blanc overlooking the vines or experiencing a massage in the gardens, there's a shared essence of calm, balance, and timeless tranquillity.”
More than a seasonal refresh, Steenberg Spa’s new menu is an invitation to pause and return to what feels natural. Wellness, here, is not an indulgence - it is a reconnection.
“This summer, we invite our guests to embrace the clarity that comes with change,” Lagorie says. “The new menu isn't just a list of treatments; it is an invitation to create space for yourself. To breathe, reflect, and feel grounded in your own wellbeing.”
