Bookmark your calendars, the Franschhoek Literary Festival is back and tickets go on sale this March. If you love local literature and want to support authors and the publishing industry, this festival is not to be missed. This year’s programme is jam packed with talks about non-fiction and fiction books and thought leader discussions. The highly anticipated event and festival runs for three days, from 19 to 21 May.
According to the official site, the programme is set to feature 80+ sessions alongwith 100+ authors and facilitators. This year, the literary festival is focusing on books that have been published in the past year as well as a select number of writers who have won prizes over the past 12 months.
The event is about creating compelling discourse, discussion and providing a platform for seasoned and new authors from around the country.
Beyond facilitating discussions, one of the key points of the festival is to raise money for the local community. This means funding school libraries, implement training and finding placements for assistant school librarians.
You can have a look at the programme on the official site, with talks, music and poetry on the bill. Each day’s agenda has a mixture of in-person and online events, with musical performances and poetry on the bill. If you’ve been wanting to get out of the city for a bit, the event is a great way to visit and explore the Franschhoek region.
Tickets go live for the general public on 17 March and can be purchased via the official website.
