Have you heard? Simon’s Town will be host to a brand new literary festival in 2023. The Books on the Bay festival is a community-funded non-profit book festival featuring some heavy hitters in the industry from world-renowned poet Antjie Krog to best-selling author JM Coetzee taking part in the official launch. The event takes place from 10 to 12 March 2023, so be sure to bookmark it!

The festival has an official launch on 10 February and tickets are already sold out online for this exciting affair, with limited tickets available at the door. Books on the Bay is set to run over the weekend of 10 to 12 March with 19 events happening in 7 venues. Think panel discussions, talks and open mic events, which are a must-see for anyone who enjoys supporting the local creative scene.

Simon’s Town plays a key part in this festival you can check out the events discussing the area and its appearance in literary work. As the official site states, “A true tavern of the seas, around every corner there is a story to tell. The setting for bestselling fiction, Simon’s Town and the far south is home to a number of South Africa’s most renowned authors.”
