Perched on the 53rd floor of One&Only One Za’abeel in Dubai, N53 is not simply a lounge — it is an experience. Elevated above the city within ‘The Link’, one of the world’s longest cantilevered structures, the space offers sweeping, cinematic views of Dubai’s skyline while redefining what a modern hospitality destination can be.

Designed by Bergman Design House, the project moves beyond the idea of a traditional cigar lounge. Instead, it becomes a sanctuary of taste and atmosphere, where design, craftsmanship and culture converge.

A Destination Above the City

Floating more than 100 metres above ground, ‘The Link’ connects the twin towers of the development both physically and symbolically. As co-founder Marie Soliman explains, “Physically, it bridges the two towers of the complex; symbolically, it links old and new Dubai, heritage and future, business and leisure, grounded tradition and elevated luxury.”

Within this architectural feat, N53 stands as a destination in its own right — a place where guests arrive not just for a drink, but for a fully immersive experience.

Designing for Emotion and Experience

“Within this modern architectural envelope… N53 introduces a layered interior language, one that blends contemporary luxury with heritage craftsmanship,” Marie Soliman notes. The brief was clear: to create a space that feels both timeless and distinctly of its place.

Rather than leaning into spectacle, the design focuses on balance — between heritage and modernity, masculinity and elegance, intimacy and grandeur. “Every detail had to feel confident yet restrained,” she says.

This approach is evident in every element, from the layout to the lighting, all carefully considered to enhance the guest experience. “Hospitality design demands a heightened focus on flow, durability, and sensory experience,” she adds. “Lighting, acoustics, ergonomics, and service circulation become as critical as aesthetics.”

A Palette Rooted in Atmosphere

The colour story is rich and enveloping. Deep caramel and cognac tones dominate, layered with charcoals, smoked browns, dark bronzes and subtle hints of amber and slate blue.

“These colours were chosen to echo the world of fine cigars and rare spirits while enhancing the play of light and shadow,” says Marie Soliman, creating a mood that is both intimate and luxurious.

This atmospheric palette is mirrored in the curated offering, which includes an exceptional collection of rare spirits — from Yamazaki and Hibiki 100th Anniversary editions to Hakushu 18-Year-Old and The Macallan M Black Decanter — alongside a selection of 90 premium cigars sourced globally.

Craftsmanship as a Narrative

At the heart of N53 lies a deep respect for craftsmanship. Materials have been selected not only for their beauty, but for their ability to age gracefully, reinforcing a sense of longevity and legacy.

A central marquetry artwork pays homage to falconry — a powerful cultural symbol in the Middle East — reinterpreted through a contemporary lens. Rich woods, brushed metals, leather and Cipollino marble are layered with precision, while Murano glass lighting and bespoke metalwork add further depth.

“Each material was chosen not only for its aesthetic value but for the way it ages gracefully,” Marie Soliman explains, underscoring the project’s commitment to timelessness.

A Space Designed to Linger

The layout is open yet carefully zoned, allowing for both privacy and social interaction. Seating clusters, bar moments and a dedicated cigar display area flow seamlessly together, all oriented towards the panoramic views.

A speakeasy-style VIP humidor adds an additional layer of exclusivity, reinforcing the sense that every corner of the space has been designed with intention.

The overall atmosphere is one of quiet confidence — a place where guests instinctively slow down. “This was achieved through controlled lighting, intimate spatial proportions, rich materials, acoustic softness, and a layout that encourages lingering rather than spectacle,” says Marie Soliman.

Redefining Modern Luxury

What sets N53 apart is its refusal to follow convention. It is not about excess or display, but about nuance — the interplay of light, material and mood.

In a city known for its bold gestures, this elevated lounge offers something more considered: a refined, immersive environment where luxury is experienced rather than declared.
