2022 is quite the year for signature drinks (negroni sbagliato, anyone?) and some of us have been inspired to try new spirits because of it. So, why not give local gins a try? South Africa is home to a variety of local artisanal spirits, gin being one of the firm favourites. If you happen to be in Cape Town over December, give Gin Day a visit on 3 December 2022 starting from 11am until 8pm

Conceptualised by popular brand Pienaar & Son, a local distillery based at Makers Landing, Gin Day is a chance to engage with South African gin makers and learn about what it takes to make an incredible local spirit. Makers Landing is a bustling food entrepreneurial space, located near the V & A’s Silo District. In fact, if the space looks familiar, you may recognise from the popular culinary show, Masterchef SA, which was filmed on the premises.

As local spirits have boomed in popularity, gin festivals have become a staple on the local event calendar, but this day-long affair aims to delve a bit deeper with workshops, Q&As, panel discussions and more. You can look forward to quite the roster as Pienaar & Son will be joined by Hope, Monks, Unit 43 and Indlovu Gin.

So if you’re keen to go, be sure to get your tickets, as quantities are limited.

There are three types of tickets available online and prices range from R100 to R950, depending on the activity of choice.
