In 2025, colour is no longer playing it safe. From vibrant jewel tones to sophisticated neutrals, expressive colour is defining interior design - and Plascon’s Hybridity 2025 Colour Forecast is leading the charge. The trend? Bold, layered palettes that reflect personality, purpose, and a growing appetite for creative expression in our living spaces.

But knowing what’s trending is just the beginning. “Buy a sample pot and test it on different walls,” advises Patty Mulauzi, Digital and Content Creation Manager at Plascon. “Lighting and wall position can change how a colour looks - testing helps you make the right decision with confidence.”

Plascon’s Natural colour family offers soft, grounded tones like Acacia (a warm, beachy beige), Canyon Wall (an earthy terracotta), and Buttery (a cheerful yellow) that shine on large surfaces. These hues evoke calm, making them perfect for open-plan living areas and bedrooms. For those craving a bit of drama, darker shades like Black Beard and Showstopper offer richness and sophistication - especially in larger, well-lit rooms.

This year’s embrace of maximalism means layering is key. Pair unexpected colours, such as chalky neons like Stylish Lime or the soft coral glow of Morning Crescent, with elegant neutrals like Evening Mist or Cream of Mushroom. For bold statements, Passion Red brings heat, while Plum Sensation deepens a space with its regal tone.

However, it’s not just about choosing the right colours - it’s about applying them well. “Clean your surfaces with sugar soap, protect trim with painter’s tape, and start from the ceiling down to prevent drips,” Mulauzi recommends. Two coats are best for rich, even coverage.

With the right palette and attention to detail, you can create a space that feels current, personal, and timeless.
